*Note: Rewind works best on macOS Ventura (13) and when your primary language is set to English.

Step 1: Start capturing

☐ Click on the Rewind icon in the menu bar (upper right hand corner of your Mac)

☐ Toggle on Audio Capture

☐ Since Audio Capture is on, your Mac is recording any audio that it hears - try talking directly to your Mac so you can see the transcript later

☐ Open up your browser and go to our Help Center: https://help.rewind.ai

☐ Star a moment by pressing ⌘Command + ⇧Shift + S and return to these 'highlighted moments' later

What does Rewind record?

Screen capture: The moment that Screen Capture is on, what is visible on your screen is recorded. If you have multiple monitors, Rewind records whatever monitor your mouse is on. Overlapping windows do not get recorded.

Audio Capture: If you want to record all audio, you can manually toggle this on at any time.

If you'd like to have Audio Capture toggled on automatically for meetings, sync your calendar.

What data is stored locally?

For your privacy, we store all of the recordings locally on your Mac. Only you have access to them. Recording data (including screenshots, video & audio) is NEVER sent off your Mac. We do compression and Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) all locally on your Mac.

Step 2: Scroll back in time

☐ Open Rewind by using the keyboard shortcut ⌘Command + ⇧Shift + Scroll

☐ Start scrolling with your mouse or trackpad (left / right or up / down) to access your Rewind history
☐ Save an image / the full screen in your timeline by clicking on the three dots in the bottom right hand corner - you can choose where the image gets saved on your Mac

☐ Scroll back in time to a portion where you had a browser open

☐ Click on the bottom right hand corner "Open in (browser)" to open up the specific link and jump right back into the page, learn more about deep linking here

☐ Keep Rewind open and move on to the next step, or close out of Rewind at any time by pressing Esc on your keyboard

💡 Pro tip: The timeline at the bottom will show the prominent app that appeared on your screen, even if there were multiple apps open. Keep this in mind when you filter search results by the app.

Step 3: Search for anything you’ve said or heard

☐ With Rewind still open, click on the "Transcripts" button in the search bar

☐ Click into one of the thumbnails

☐ Right above the timeline next to the date, click on the audio icon to access your transcript

☐ Hover over a line in the transcript and click on the grey play button on the right side to play the transcript

☐ Once audio begins to play, click on the "1x" in the bottom right hand corner to speed up the audio

☐ You can also 'pin' a transcript window outside of Rewind so that you can playback audio / read the transcript while also being able to take notes and be in a different app

☐ In the upper right hand corner of the transcript, click the three dots and "Copy transcript"

☐ At the top of the transcript, click on the "Details" tab, click "Summarize"
☐ Click on Draft Email - if needed, change the default email reader

☐ Click on the minimized search bar in the bottom left hand corner to return to the search results

Step 4: Search for anything you’ve seen

☐ Type in "Rewind" into the search bar and press return on your keyboard - we will surface different results/thumbnails where the keyword "Rewind" was visible on the screen

☐ Click into a thumbnail and click + drag to directly highlight the text

☐ Copy the text with ⌘Command + C and paste with ⌘Command + P inside or outside of Rewind

☐ On some of the thumbnails, you will see a semi-transparent button that says "Open in (browser)" - click on this button to directly close out of Rewind and jump into the moment

💡 Pro tip: Click on "Apps" in the search bar to filter your results by specific apps.

Step 5: Check out your Daily Recap

☐ Open up your Daily Recap by using the keyboard shortcut ⌘Command + ⇧Shift + ;

☐ Click on the left arrow (next to Today) to see the Daily Recap of previous days

☐ Make sure to sync your calendar in order to see details of your meetings and click on Open Details underneath one of your meetings to see the last summary

☐ Click on 'Transcript' (above the meeting title) to see the full transcript

☐ Click on Open in Timeline to open up the meeting in the Rewind timeline

☐ Click on the audio icon, left of the Rewind date / time to see the transcript + play back the audio
