With calendar sync enabled, Rewind has access to meeting details, making it easier to browse meetings by title, Ask Rewind about specific meetings and the ability to automatically send human-level meeting summaries to meeting participants. Calendar sync also improves support and adds new features for recording meetings.

*Note: This feature is only available in macOS Ventura (13).

What meetings will I get prompted to join and record?

You will be prompted to join and record all meetings on any calendar connected to Rewind that have Zoom or Google Meet URLs associated with them.

What happens when a meeting starts?

Rewind will prompt you to join and record the meeting and a meeting icon will appear next to the Rewind icon in the menu bar. When recording starts, the meeting icon will transition to an active state and turn purple to indicate that the meeting is recording.

What happens if I dismiss the prompt but would like to record the meeting?

Clicking on X in the top left corner of the 'Join & Record' popup = closes the prompt. The popup will come up again when we detect a meeting.
Clicking on cancel = will not auto-record any of your upcoming meetings that are listed in the Rewind popup. You would need to manually toggle on the Audio Capture toggle.

You can also access meeting controls, including the ability to start recording a meeting, from the Rewind menu.

What happens if I have multiple upcoming or overlapping meetings?

You will be prompted to choose which meeting you would like to record. If you'd like to change which meeting you want to record, select 'View Other Meetings...' from the Rewind menu and you will be able to change your selection.

What happens when a meeting ends?

When a meeting ends and you close the meeting window or quit the meeting app, Rewind will attempt to automatically turn off Audio Capture, but this may not be possible with all meeting tools. In those cases, you are always able to end a meeting by clicking the Rewind icon in the menu bar and then selecting 'Stop Recording Meeting'. You can also change your settings from the Meetings tab.

How does automatic summarization work?

When a meeting ends, you will be prompted to summarize the meeting. You can configure summarization options in Rewind's Meetings settings. Summaries can be found at any time in meeting details. To change the default email that your summary gets drafted in, follow these steps.

Where can I see meeting details?

Rewind automatically imports details about your meetings from your calendar. This makes it easier to browse meetings by title, Ask Rewind about specific meetings or view descriptions, participants and more.

To view meeting details, go to your meeting in Rewind (either by browsing in the Transcripts window, or rewinding the timeline and clicking the audio button next to the timestamp) and clicking the Details tab.

Why am I getting prompted to record when I have meetings set to record automatically?

At this time, meeting detection and calendar sync are not integrated. Meeting detection settings are still respected in the cases where Rewind automatically detects that a meeting has started based on supported meeting tools (learn more). In this case, you won't get the benefits of calendar sync, including imported meeting details and meeting controls in the Rewind menu.

Why am I not getting prompted for events in my calendar?

It can take up to 15 minutes for calendar events to update if they are modified on the web, by another person or created from a third-party app. To update calendars faster, open Calendar.app (on your Mac) and adjust the Refresh Calendars option in Settings… → Accounts to Every minute. You can also choose View → Refresh Calendars or use ⌘R.
