How does Rewind search work?

When you type in a search query, Rewind finds every time those words have appeared on your screen or have been said in your audio recordings. It then lists them out in reverse chronological order, beginning with the most recent results.

Using the shortcut ⌘ + + Scroll will open Rewind with a blank search bar.

⌘ + + Space will open Rewind to last search.

Using the below tips, you can quickly and easily search through your Rewind history.

Use keywords and proper nouns

  • Best for: Finding everything related about keyword that was mentioned or gathering context about a person/place

  • Example: Searching "Tyler" will gather all results of when the name "Tyler" appeared on the screen or was mentioned in (transcript)

Use quotes

Note: In a search query, you can not use the Boolean operators AND, OR, and NOT

  • Best for: Searching for a specific phrase where you don't want matches for every single word individually, does not return an exact match for single words

  • Example: Searching action item (without quotes) will come up with search results that include action and item separately and "action item" will come up with very specific results

Use Filters: App, Transcripts, or Starred

Apps: This works like the Boolean operator OR

  • Best for: Refining your search if you know what app you saw the keyword in

  • Example: Choosing the Apps Filters 'Chrome' and 'Safari' will limit your search and show results that were only in Chrome and Safari

Transcripts: This is where you can find your recorded audio / transcripts

  • Best for: Searching through audio and transcripts only and finding your recorded meetings

  • Example: Searching the phrase "AI trends" and choosing the Meetings Filter will surface the results where "AI trends" was mentioned in an audio segment / transcript

Starred: Access your starred moments here

  • Best for: Referencing anything that you 'starred', whether that's something you need to follow up with, an interesting article, or a key moment in a meeting

  • Example: Searching "customers" and choosing the Starred Filter will surface all Starred Moments where "customers" appeared on the screen

Notes:

  • You can use the filters with or without searching keywords

  • Choosing an App Filter with a Starred Filter works like the Boolean operator AND

  • Transcript Filter cannot be be combined with an App Filter or Starred Filter
