When your audio and screen capture is on, you might sometimes encounter apps that don’t work well with Rewind.
Vanilla
This app takes screenshots of your menu bar and gets captured by Rewind as the dominant app.
How to fix: If the only app that shows up in Rewind timeline is Vanilla, exclude Vanilla from being captured with these steps.
App Tamer
This app will sometimes slow down other apps that are using a lot of resources, which could trigger Rewind's crashHandler.
How to fix: Click on the Rewind application in App Tamer's list of processes. Make sure that there is no checkmark for "Slow down this app if it uses more than [x]%".
Audio recording apps (Krisp, Poised, Rogue Amoeba / SoundSource)
If multiple programs are attempting to use audio capture in a similar way, they can interfere with one another. Krisp, Poised, and Rogue Amoeba / SoundSource seem to detect Rewind capturing audio as a "call" or "meeting" without specific rules in place. We use Open AI's Whisper language model and it works 100% on-disk with no networking calls, so your data is always local and protected.
How to fix: Make sure to turn off Krisp and Poised if you want both screen and audio to be captured in Rewind.
Global shortcuts and Timing apps (KeyCue, Timing App)
Apps like KeyCue rely on accessibility permissions to enable global keyboard shortcuts but can interfere with Rewind.
How to fix: If you're using KeyCue and see that Rewind is crashing, make sure to enable 'Show in Dock' (show Rewind app icon in your dock).
Screen management apps (Rectangle, Moom)
Apps like Rectangle or Moom rely on accessibility permissions to enable global keyboard shortcuts but can interfere with Rewind.
How to fix: If our date / calendar picker isn't working, please close out of the other apps.
