Why does Rewind make occasional network requests?

For your privacy, your screen and audio recordings are stored locally and NEVER leave your Mac. If you choose to use our meeting summarization or Ask Rewind features, only relevant text-based data is sent to the cloud. We do compression and Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) all locally on your Mac. Learn more.

In some cases, Rewind makes network connections to help keep the product up to date or help us know when we ship a bug and what features are being used. This allows us to build a better product for you.

Network connections

rewind.ai

🌐 account.rewind.ai

When you try to sign in, sign up, or check the status of your subscription we will make a network request to account.rewind.ai.

When sharing crash reporting & usage data is enabled, we will also occasionally make requests to account.rewind.ai to send system telemetry information. This helps us detect possible performance problems to ensure Rewind is running smoothly for you.

🌐 updates.rewind.ai

When we ship a new feature or fix a bug we create a new version of Rewind that is available as a free update. We store these updates securely at updates.rewind.ai.

Every hour your locally installed version of Rewind will check whether an update is available by making a network request to updates.rewind.ai and if an update is available, download it.

🌐 feedback-uploads.rewind.ai

User feedback helps us make the product better. When you click "Share Feedback..." from the Rewind menubar in the upper-right corner we make a network request to feedback-uploads.rewind.ai.

🌐 ask.rewind.ai

Receives requests (including user queries and snippets of relevant search results) and returns responses from Ask Rewind.

segment.io

🌐 api.segment.io

🌐 cdn-settings.segment.com

When sharing crash reporting & usage data is enabled, we use Segment for non-sensitive information such as if the app is on or off or if a search has happened. Your search query itself is never sent.

sentry.io

🌐 o393022.ingest.sentry.io

When sharing crash reporting & usage data is enabled, we use Sentry to let us know if the app crashes or has an error we will send logs detailing what happened.

launchdarkly.com

🌐 app.launchdarkly.com

🌐 mobile.launchdarkly.com

When "Allow Early Access Feature Rollouts" is enabled, we use LaunchDarkly to roll out new features or disable them if you experience issues.

How can I verify that these are the only network requests Rewind makes?

You can use apps like Little Snitch to see incoming and outgoing network connections. See something you're not sure about? Email us at [email protected].

All of your recordings are stored locally on your machine. These are not uploaded to the cloud.
